May 6,
2015. Travel Time, Preparation for Provincial Orientation
Isang panibagong adventure at karanasan
Challenges
and Problems Encountered:
1.
Travel time
2.
Absence of technical personnel
3.
Forgot to arrange some important
reservation such as microphone and etc.
4.
Forgot other materials needed to
prepare
Reflection:
Getting more of the stuffs between
other workmates whether it is tangible or not have made me realize how
important for us to really establish a strong bond. There were things that
might actually be in mind, the very purpose of the activity and the major role
that you need to play.
May
7, 2015. Provincial Orientation and Planning Meeting
The activity commenced before everyone
had to eat the lunch. Picture taking and series of conversation went on as we
eat. Participants immediately left the area and we were all there for the
restoration and after care. We assessed the activity and identified some of the
positive outputs. We went home at around
3:00 pm and reached Davao City before twilight.
Challenges
and Problems Encountered:
1.
Microphone and other technical
assistance arise because of lack of coordination between DMSF staff and Honey's
Hotel before the day of the activity.
2.
Uncoordinated presentation (prezi)
because there was no pointer available and no rehearsal was made.
3.
Most of the MHO's are absent that
affects the decision making and discussion on the coordination and referral
mechanism.
Reflection:
I was really surprised how we end up
into a not so really successful provincial orientation but we really did our
very best to come up with an acceptable output. We were all happy because at
last we conducted the activity. It is good to know that all of us took our part
to do this. However, there were some simple things that I think we need to work
on. Anyway we are new to this job, but you know what is not new to us is our
common sense, our guts and our desire to do the job. We are in the first phase
of the project and I know it is hard, given also that some of us doesn't have
experience in organizing events. In my part, hosting is one thing I was doing
when I was in college and I almost forgot how to do it because I haven't able
to practice it for a very long time. I felt different that time that I wasn’t
able to do it properly. But aside from that I really appreciate how all of us
took the challenge.

May
15, 2015. Travel Time, Davao City to Tarragona, Davao Oriental
I reached Tarragona at around 2:30 pm
and decided to clean the room and immediately took the time to get some awful
rest.
Challenges
Encountered:
1.
The challenge was that on how I can
control my excitement and the rest of the feelings that I have inside the bus.
The kind of thinking that I was bearing in mind.
Reflection:
Municipal Orientation ground working
and among others are things that have made me more like a paranoid (char, hugot
pa more). In the same way I was really looking at the window staring myself
asking why God putt me in here? I asked
myself if what really my purpose is. Then suddenly there was this light that
have made me stronger, that enlightened me.
May
16, 2015. Solicited Commitment of CBO in
Brgy. Cabagayan
It's Saturday and normally government
doesn't operate this day. I knew it from the very first that I cannot conduct
courtesy call to the LCE. Last night I called kuya Joie and asked for any
suggestion as to how am I really going to spend the whole Saturday
productively. He suggested that I will visit those potential CBO's and solicit
their commitment to the project. I did what he said and hopefully I did it but
with some twist, and here it goes.
At around 11 am I reached the house of Brgy Capt.Sangue
and eventually met Mrs. Prescilla Sangue who was there preparing some
little stuff for the baptism. I talked
to her claiming that we already met
during the courtesy call last April. She was convinced after I presented the
project and she expressed her commitment because of the active involvement of the organization
to the community. She offered me to just stay and witness the baptism. I was
really shy that time though I expected her to say it. (hey, it was obvious,
duh). But honestly It was my first time to witness that kind of baptism.
After we shared all kinds of recipe of
kambing I went home.
Challenges
and Problems Encountered:
1.
Nosebleed sa conversation with doctor
because she really was in english mode during the conversation.
2.
Reaching the place was quite hard
because the RHM wasn’t with me when I got there.
3.
Location of the house.
4.
Muslim area: culture sensitivity
5.
I ate the food that was given to me
even I don’t like the taste. But I made them feel I like it even though I
don’t. (Am I plastic? Or just blending in?) anyway it was a great experience.
Reflection:
Find time to be productive. I realized
that making use of the time in some simple way could help you sometimes
identify what's necessary or not.
I went back to the MHO and informed her
about what transpired after the talk. She suggested if it will be okay to
invite all barangays for the orientation in order to also raise awareness about
TB and the project. Hopefully the mayor agreed. The budget will be augmented by
the LGU. The office was really busy because its Monday. I took the chance to
meet the Municipal Planning Officer Mr. Shionee and he said he was chatting
with Sir Balong of DMSF last month stating my involvement in the LGU. I was
surprised that someone from DMSF is connected to him. We talked a little and I
proceed to Women's Office for food
package inquiry; MHO for the initial info. I went home to prepared myself for a
travel to Cateel.
I was patiently waiting at around 2 pm
and no van or even bus was passing. I walked and tune in to one of the radio
stations. A non-air bus just came and it was a tough ride. At around 2:30 pm I
left Tarragona. It was crowded. As people kept coming out on a bus I was able
to sit down and find myself comfortable. The 4 hour drive from Tarragona really
is a pain in the body. I immediately contacted Kelly. I waited for minutes at
the park. We all gathered in the house of Ate Ging2x, relative of ate Mila
Chavez. We ate dinner and went home to prepare for another day.
Challenges
and Problems Encountered:
1.
The challenge was to briefly explain
the project because the mayor was set to
attend the brigada eskwela program of the school in the area.
2.
The time for the arrangement was short
because the secretary/clerk really was busy organizing the food preparation.
3.
The suggested participation of ten
barangays led me again to talk to the mayor. It was really hard to find him
because of his whereabouts.
Outputs:
1.
Set the date of Municipal Orientation
and Planning Meeting on May 26, 2015, Tuesday, 9:00 am
2.
Coordinated the Secretary for
Communication Letter and the advisory
will be done by the admin to ensure proper participation.
3.
10 barangays will participate in the
orientation
4.
Met LGU staff, Wome's Cooperative
Members and Mun. IPMR
5.
Initially informed the MHO staff for
the orientation for them to block off their schedules to ensure participation.
6.
Safe travel from Tarragona to Cateel.
Reflection:
The moment I find myself cheering up I
noticed it was good to have this kind of energy. The kind of energy that
invigorates thoughts and creates positive vibes. I really like the idea of
joining the ceremony because I get to know people and eventually this will lead
me to knowing employees of the LGU. I like the fact that I am not only focused
on creating relationship with the MHO staff but other department as well. And
if you start the day with positivity, it will continue until the sun sets.
Outputs:
1.
Safe Travel
2.
Finalized program flow for Manay's
Orientation
Challenges
and Problems Encountered:
1.
Short time remained for groundwork that
made me decide to just take the rest and prepare to go to Manay.
Reflection
What I have in mind during the trip was
about on how I will apply important points I learned on the said Municipal
Orientation at Boston.
May 21,
2015. Municipal Orientation at Manay, Davao Oriental
The activity
ended with lots of commitment and expressed thoughts. After the restoration, we
headed back to our respective areas. I reached tarragona at around 2:30 pm.
Challenges and Problems Encountered:
1. Absence
of MHO, NTP and other important person that is vital to decision making.
2. The
area was too large for the activity and the ongoing construction.
3. Unprepared
ppt TB situation.
Reflection:
The moment I saw
kuya Randy having the kind of problem in the number of participants I was
really thinking how I can be able to gather the important people to attend on
my own municipal orientation. It was really the moment that challenged me to
work hard and take a lot of effort.
Based on the two municipal orientations that I attended, I somehow
identified the strategies and other things to do in order to have a successful
conduct of activity.
May 22, 2015. Ground working at Brgy. Tomoaong, Cabagayan and Tubaon
The celebration
in cabagayan was ongoing when I came. Present during the activity was the
Congressman Boy Dayanghirang and other renowned politicians of the province. I
saw some of the barangay captains and other people that I met before. We talked
and I joine them their celebration. Speeches, intermission numbers and ribbon
cutting were the major activities that have made my day memorable. I heard how
these politicians can come up with a nice and persuading messages. However,
cultural dances and other songs really was amazing. Meeting the people there
was amazing. The Chairperson of DTI was also there sitting beside me, we talked
and shared common stories; how sensitive the culture and the difference when it
comes to belief.
After the said
encounter, I decided to leave the area at around 1:30. I prepared for a trip to
Brgy. Tubaon to ground work the Mun. Orientation. This is the first time I will
visit the other side of Brgy. Tubaon that they called “Trese or 13”. Most of
the people there are purely Mandaya. The barangay is the largest among other
barangays of Tarragona. I reached the BHS at around 3:00 pm. I met the BHw’s
and other children who were there watching TV. I immediately headed to the
baragay hall to gather data. Sec Elizabeth Manibad was there and I introduced
myself. I discovered that she is also Ilongo. We really had a nice time talking
because of the language that we both understand. She was very accommodating and
she provided me the data that I need. The sun was about to fall that time and I
decided to leave the palce and settle some turn-over of the responsibilities.
Ate Vanessa, one of the RHMPP assigned in the area gave me the responsibility
to take care of the BHS ad gave some important points for my safety. I enjoyed
the company of Mrs. Junipher Batunon, one of the BHW’s who really had a great
time preparing our dinner. She invited me to join them on their dinner, I
cooked my food and we also shared it. The time went by and we have lots of topics.
I decided to leave bringing with me the humble beginning of our friendship.
Challenges and Problems Encountered:
1. Waited
for long hours before talking to the barangay captain present during the
program in Cabagayan because they are sitting in the presidential table.
2. The
challenge to maintain confidence in talking to the politicians and other CBO
president.
3. The
location of the houses of some barangay kagawad and CBO Chair is not in the hub
of the barangay.
4. The
road and the distance of Barangay Tubaon.
5. The
absence of Brgy. Captain in the area. (Tomoaong & Tubaon)
6. The
challenge to cope with the people there especially the language.
Reflection
I can’t believe
that I can come to those barangays and meet plenty of people. To attend the
kind of activity where you can meet important people is really good to
potentially achieve your goals and eventually to meet them and introduce the
project. The thing that I learned today is to keep in mind the things that you
are doing. The three barangays I visited today are those barangays that have
different culture. The two barangays are Muslim areas where on the other
barangay is Mandaya. These differences really helped me to identify myself in
blending them.
May 23, 2014. Ground working at Brgy. Tubaon
I went home at
around 4:00 pm bringing with me the unexpected encounter and IEC that I have
done there.
Challenges and Problems Encountered:
1. The
day was Saturday and no Governent Office.
2. Absence
of Barangay Captain in the area.
3. Langauage
of the people (Kalagan)
4. The
challenge to compose myself during the 30 min. IEC.
Reflection
The entire
activity for today was fun because I was able to go to places and meet people.
Joining the meeting is one thing that I believe would allow me to know people
especially Muslims. That moment I decided to join Ate Vanessa to come to Muslim
School there was no sign of doubt and no sign of fear because literally they
have nothing to fear. I thought I will just sit and listen there but people
there was so nice that they really allowed me to talk. The moment I first open
my mouth, I felt the kind of happiness that allowed me to just enjoy the entire
conversation. This happiness maybe or should I say gladness recourse my
thoughts into a broader perspective.
May 25, 2015. Preparation and data Validation for Municipal Orientation
The day has come
before the orientation. Thus, it allowed me to really give myself a hard time
to prepare for my own stage. The day began with a deep breath keeping in mind
the challenges of today’s activity. I reached RHU at 7:45 and people there kept
on saying that tomorrow will be the orientation. I was really able to talk to
the MHO about the flow of the program and she agreed. I coordinated the NTP
Coor. and the TB Aider about the presentation on the TB situation. The whole
afternoon was spent purely on Data validation and making of presentation. I
wasn’t able to perform some other tasks because of the said preparation that I
didn’t expect to consume much time.
I was ravaged by
the intensity of the situation that prevented me to prepare the activity area
and to communicate well with Maam Neng who happened to be in some places.
Although the spirit was there I kept on telling the manager who happened to
came earlier, about the feelings that I have.
I didn’t noticed
the hours and seems that the day was so quick. I ended the day with prayers.
Challenges and Problems Encountered:
1. Delay
of program presentation that led me to start the making of ppt late.
2. The
kind of data presentation that the MHO wanted is from 2011 to 2015 that consumed
my time.
3. Established
weak contact to the caterers and program technical facilitator for the
preparation of the area.
Reflection
I didn’t really expect that the
MHO will be keen enough about the presentation. I wasn’t able to formally arrange
the things that I need because the time was corrupted. However, there are
things that might actually be a learning of today’s activity, and that is to
really expect the unexpected. The next time I will be having this kind of
activity, I will do my best to really find time to prepare everything to
prevent cramming and uncoordinated events.
It ended up
smoothly, although there were some points that I think I wasn’t met but I think
that was enough for an orientation. All barangays was invited and that I think
made the activity more surprising because I was also able to meet other barangay
captains and other officials.
I was so
thankful for the day especially the presence of the manager and the neighboring
CO because they really helped me facilitate the kind of activity that
participants are expecting. Together with the manager we headed north to help
the CO in Baganga on the Mun. Orientation tomorrow.
Challenges and Problems Encountered:
1. How
to compose myself for a project presentation
2. The
challenge to really entertain all the visitors and made them feel that they are
all welcome in the activity.
3. The
coordination between all persons involved such as the caterer, midwives and the
registration, etc, etc.
4. Program
Flow
Reflection
The feeling is
quite different when it is the time for your own Municipal Orientations. I
really had the chance to feel what other CO’s felt during the orientations.
However, after the activity there was this different kind of feeling. I know
this is just an initial step to becoming a CO but one thing I appreciate about
this job is to really find yourself smiling – wondering how things just
happened.
May 27, 2015. Assisted Municipal Orientation in Baganga
Chalenges and Problems Encountered:
1. No
Audio Jack available.
2. Difficulty
in delivering DMSF-IPHC presentation because it was my first time.
Reflection
I also expressed
my support to Kelly because I really felt the same way during the Orientation
in Tarragona. We talked and laugh all the time during dinner and that gave me
the time to boost his confidence that he can overcome it. I am so glad to also
hear the spirit from him. We then helped him to deliver the topic properly last night. I really appreciate the fact that
we all together help each other. I feel the love and concern from each other
especially the support that everyone is giving.
May 28, 2015. Travel Time, Cateel to Davao City
It was a smooth ride. Dali ra
kayo ang byahe.
